At Home Photography Sessions &

Documentary Photography

Documentary photography makes my heart sing.  Truly.  Nothing compares to sessions at home, in your favorite place, surrounded by your favorite people and hopefully a pet or two.  Documentary photography is unlike traditional family photography.  Think less posed, and more real.  Less "look at the camera and smile" and more play with your people.  Less rigid, more flexible.  Less performing, more being.

"There's no place like home."

You work so hard to make your place home.  You decorate with intentionality and personality.  It's time to let that personality shine.  This family loves color and art.  The kids' bedrooms have murals (painted by their grandparents!!), surfaces have plants, family photos are everywhere.  This home is so full of life.  Your home is the perfect backdrop for your family photos.

At home photography:

for pets, for kids, for parents

You know who loves documentary photography??  Kids.  They don't need to perform, they just need to exist.  They get to play, eat, and play some more.  Truly, what could be any better??  Living room hockey?  Yes please.  Snuggles on the bed?  Aaaabsolutely.  Donuts and cookies?  One of each, please.

You know who else loves documentary photography?  Your pets.  Ok, that's just a guess, but based on these two loves, it's clear these dogs were happy to be part of the action.

You know what that means?  Parents also love documentary photos.  Because your job could not be easier.  Just do things the way you normally would.  I'm kind of like your own personal paparazzi (but without the harassment).   Your family's story can be artfully documented.

Your Story, Authentically You

Documentary photography is the dream.  We float from room to room, kids show off their favorite activities and toys.  Every once in awhile, I may give you a prompt, pose or idea of where to sit for the best light.  But overall, you mostly just do what you'd normally do if I wasn't around.  Your life is picture perfect as is, I'm there to document it.

For homebodies

who love their people, their pets, and their place.

Denver families, I want to make art with you, for you.

I know it can feel overwhelming to invite a stranger into your home for family photos.  I promise, it's really easy breezy, lemon squeezy.  I adore this session so very much that it's been split into two posts.  One for indoors, one for their outdoors.  I love a session that can multi task.  See more of this session here.

Or peep another documentary family session here.
