When you're getting ready to leave a place that’s been your home, how do you say goodbye? For this sweet family, it was with one last mountain adventure.


As a Denver family photographer, I was over the moon to document this session at Mount Falcon West, just before they packed up and moved to the East coast (trading mountains for easy beach access is a bit of a win-win). These images were their love letter to Colorado—homage to the parks they explored, the mountains they climbed, the rivers they fished and the memories they made as a young family in Denver.

Is Mount Falcon West your perfect location for fam photos?


It just might be.  This spot, nestled just outside of Denver in Indian Hills, couldn’t have been a better choice for their farewell session. With open fields, panoramic views, and wooded paths, it’s one of my go-to spots for family photos in the foothills. It’s peaceful, breathtaking, and easy to access—especially with little ones in tow!  It isn't super accessible for people who may experience difficulties navigating uneven ground and sandy trails.

Family Photos that Feel Like Play


This family treated family photos a lot like a family adventure.  They went in with the intention of adventuring together, rather than standing stiffly and posing.  There were snuggles, frolicking in fields, jumping off tree trunks, & finding cool rocks.  These  parents allowed their kids to be kids during family photos, which makes for more smiles, more laughter and better photos.

📅 Best time to shoot:

Golden hour (about an hour before sunset) gives us that soft, dreamy light you see in these photos.

Weeknights help offset some of the crowd, it's a popular spot for family photos!


🎒 What to bring:

Snacks, water, and maybe a lovey or comfort item for the kids.

The trails can be rocky/sandy, so wear shoes you're confident you won't twist an ankle in.

Absolutely! There are open areas for exploring, safe trails, and fun textures to explore.
