Lakewood, Colorado

Photo Session with Lakewood Family Photographer

Lakewood Park Painted in Fall Foliage

I have a soft spot in my heart for the city of Lakewood.  I worked for the city for a handful of years, primarily seasonally as a summer camp director.  We operated out of different Lakewood schools and frequented Lakewood Parks and Rec Centers.  This location is a real stunner, for a lot of reasons.  It is an absolute favorite of my clients,  with good reason.

It's perfect for playful, family, fall photos.  It's a great spot for outdoorsy couples.  Bear Creek Lake is a great option for senior or milestone photography.  It works for a quick multigenerational mini session (with a sweet, sunshiney vintage trailer).

Family photos are worth it every time.

Even when they start in chaos.  We went to an agreed upon location first, but there was an elopement happening there and there was literally no parking.  Ultimate chaos.  So we had to do a quick shuffle, but luckily for us, we weren't too far from this stunning Lakewood location.  And even luckier for me, this sweet family rolled with the punches.

Proof of Mom.

I love family photos.  I extra love family photos that highlight mom.  She typically is the one behind the camera, so I try to make sure mom is front and center in family photos.  Especially boy moms!!

Playful families, playful photos.

The best thing you can do to set your family photos up for success is hyping kids (and dad, if needed) up.  Family photos are meant to be fun.  We'll explore a new place, we'll enjoy all the beauty that Colorado has to offer.  My approach to photos is very movement based, full of prompts so you aren't left guessing to know what to do, and heavy on the documentary side of photography.  I love nothing more than snapping photos that feel authentic to your family, and those photos tend to fall in the in between moments.

Golden Hour meets Blue Hour.

Remember how we had to pivot last minute to a new location??  That meant that our timing was a bit later than usual.  But it totally worked in our favor because golden hour slowly melted away into the most stunning of moody blue hours.  It offered a ton of variety to this family's gallery.
