In Home Newborn Photography

I try not to play favorites, buuuut in home newborn photography is my favorite.  Especially when the family is lovely, the home is warm and inviting, and there's a cat.  Perfection.  These sweet parents clearly adore their precious babe and getting to document that love and adoration is the dream.

In Home Newborn Session Flow

Inviting a stranger into your home, with a new baby, can feel overwhelming.  Newborn photographers typically have a rhythm or flow to the session to help make the session go as smoothly as possible for everyone.  That being said, baby is always the boss.  They guide the session - if they are hungry, they eat.  If they're fussy, parents soothe.  If they're tired, they can nap.  The beauty of in home newborn sessions is you have everything in arm's reach.  This little love was the absolute sweetest.  They snuggled, ate, snoozed, and enjoyed staring into the camera (and at the fan).

Why In Home for your Newborn Photos

In home sessions will always be my favorite.  You spend so much time in your home.  It's the first place baby knew, it's the place you had sleepless nights and joyful days, it is so worth remembering.  I think photographs are most meaningful when they feel real, and there is no place more real than your home.  This family's home is stunning.  The art, the books, the plants, the colors, the textures.  It was a gift to be invited to document their family in their space.

Newborn Photography, Heavy on the Snuggles

As a newborn photographer, my philosophy is heavy on the snuggles and connection.  The goal is always to prioritize what is going to make baby most comfortable, and usually that's being held.

Newborn photos, so you can remember the details.

Babies change so fast.  The days are long, the years are short.  Time is a thief.  The cliches are all true.  Newborn photographs can help you remember their most perfect profile, how perfectly they fit in your hands, their teeny tiny fingernails.  Babies were born ready for a close up.

Newborn photography artfully preserves this moment, so you can remember what parenthood felt like when they were so very small.
