Documentary Photographer, Littleton, Denver & Beyond

Because photography should be authentically you.

There is a subtle magic to documenting real life.  The tasks that sometimes feel like routine - wake up, make breakfast, feed the kids, do the dishes, repeat x a million.  Except one day, it won't be the routine.  You'll have a quiet house, a clean table and a morning to yourself.  So let's take the time to document the quiet, in between moments, and the loud, chaotic ones that add a bit of spice to your day.

What to expect for a documentary family session.

You'll be pleasantly surprised at how effortless documentary family sessions are.  Your job is literally to just to exist the way you would on any given day.  I have the honor of holding a memory still for you.   I'll ask you the question: What would you be doing if I wasn't here right now?  Great, let's photograph that.

Baby boy crawling out of kiddy pool as big cousin looks on, making a surprised facial expression, both in swim suits.

Before

Cousins playing together in fall leaves at park, throwing them into the air.

Where should we go?

Your house is picture-perfect as is.  The toys, the dirty dishes, the pile of shoes - those are all little pieces of proof that your kids were here.  Let's not erase it.  I'll travel to you, within the Littleton & Denver metro area.

Close up of toddler girl snuggling in to mom's shoulder, looking relaxed.

What should I wear?

Wear what you would normally wear in your every day life.  Or elevate it if you want, totally up to you.  But throw out the pressure to buy new, perfect outfits.

Two sisters putting poles, preparing to pitch a camping tent, father in the background.

What should we do?

Spend quality time with the people you love.  Play a board game, run barefoot in the backyard, plant a flower in your garden, drink a cup of coffee while your children run feral.

Close up on child's marker stained hands as they play the piano.

During

Newborn boy in infant bath tub on counter while mom washing hands in the sink.

What if my kids are off the wall?

They're kids!  I want them to bring all the energy!  The whole point is to capture real, authentic moments.  From laughter to tears, nothing is off limits!  My job is to make them feel comfortable with me around, their job is to just be a kid.

Young girl standing on chair, dad standing behind her, helping mix cookie dough. Mom standing nearby holding baby boy.

Will you pose us?

In a true documentary session, mostly no.  My goal is to be a silent, less annoying, fly on the wall.  If you want to sneak in a few traditional photos, of course we can squeeze that in!

How long will a session last?

Depends on your preference!  I offer 1-3 hour documentary sessions, we land on what's best for you!

After

When will we get the full gallery?

Gallery turn around time is 2-3 weeks.

Baby boy being changed on changing table, mom removing onesie, dad's hand holding pacifier in baby's mouth.

Will we get sneak peeks?

Yep!  I'll send a few photos your way in the week after your session.

What's after that?

You get a gallery with high res photos and a download code!  It's really that simple.  Documentary photography takes the stress out of family photos.

Documentary sessions are perfect for families

who want to remember what life was like in this very moment in time.

Not ready to commit to a full  documentary session?

That's ok, there is a middle ground between lifestyle and documentary.  And the good news is, you don't need to change anything about a regular family session to make space for documentary inspired family photos.  Here are some examples of family photography sessions with documentary style photography photos.  Whether it's at one of Littleton or Denver's stunning locations or in the comfort of your own home, documentary photographs can be fit in at every session.
