I love, love, love maternity photography.  There's something special to getting to photograph growing families.  Although 9 months can feel like a long time in the moment, afterward it will have felt surprisingly fast??  So it's time to document the glow, the cravings, the joy.

Practice makes perfect.


Family Photography is an interesting profession.  There are classes and programs, but in my experience, the best way to learn is from actually doing.  Which means watching and learning from other photographers.  Enter photographer workshops.   They are led by a lead photographer or two, with model families/couples, and in a thoughtfully selected location.  This session happened to take place in a Boulder rental with a very stunning couple (instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vickiandmartin/).


I personally love learning.  Workshops are such a unique way to get to know other photographers in the community while also learning new creative approaches.

not always glamorous.


Pregnancy can be a challenge.  It's messy and emotional and exhausting.  That being said, you'll likely look back and remember this time with a hint of nostalgia unlike any other.  


It's so worth documenting.
