Matthews / Winters Park Family Photos – A Beautiful Golden, Colorado Location


Golden, Colorado has no shortage of stunning locations for family photos.  It's a no brainer to add Matthews/Winter Park to the list.  It's easy to get to, it has great foothill views, it's not usually super crowded and bonus points for the picturesque river.

A family photography session at Matthews / Winters Park looks like...


Well, first off, there's this really cute fence right off the parking lot.  While some of the trees lose their leaves, there's still visual interest with the evergreens.  


Then, there's the river.  It adds a great pop of color and visual interest.  It also adds a playful element to your family photos.

What to expect from Matthews/Winters Park...


Wear comfortable shoes.  Some of the trek is a bit up hill.  The river is more easily accessible from the parking lot, but the foothills views require a bit of a walk on a dirt path.  


In true Colorado fashion, we had snow the day before, but warm temps the next day.  Warm enough for t-shirts!  If there is a lot of snow, it can get icy or muddy.  This November day happened to be the perfect balance of pretty snow, without being a mess.

The perfect spot for playful families.


Do your kids hate to stand still?  Maybe they prefer to play between smiling at the camera?  This is the perfect spot for you.  There's plenty of places to run, jump, and explore.  Family documentary photography is my fav - catching playful in between moments that feel true to your crew.  You can expect a lot of movement, because movement and laughter looks good on everyone.
