Multi-Generation Family Photos in
Golden, Colorado
When your family spans four generations and two continents, and everyone happens to be in the same place for a mere 48 hours? You have to squeeze in family photos.
I'm a huge proponent for extended family photos - there's something so special about cousins playing, grandparents snuggling, adult siblings laughing. Here's a session at a Centennial park, another multi generation session in Arvada, a Grand Lake extended family session, and how to plan for a successful extended family photo session.

Extended Family Photos can be both.
Candid and playful. Smiling and laughing. Perfectly posed and chaotically beautiful. I love the combination of getting the traditional photo of everyone smiling and the documentary photos that show the moments in between the posed moments.
Why multi-generation photos??
I get it. They take a lot of work, they are an investment, and you might think the last thing your kids want to do is stand still and take pictures. This group had their own doubts ("We usually hate family photos."). But by the end of the session, it switched to, "That was easy?? And fun?". Multigeneration photos can be joyful. Toddlers and kids photograph best when they're playing. We will get the traditional group shots, but more than that, we'll get cousins playing together, silly expressions, and cute dimpled smiles.
A Session at Home
This particular session was extra meaningful because it took place on family property. What better backdrop for your photos than a place filled with memories already? Whether it’s a childhood home, family farm, or backyard gathering spot, photographing in a location that matters to you adds even more depth and authenticity to your images.
Belly laughs, great-grandma's smile, silly glances, quiet moments, cousins playing, & a stunning location.
It's all worth remembering.
