South Valley Park is a real stunner.


It's no surprise that South Valley Park a favorite of mine, and a mega favorite of my clients.  The landscapes are gorgeous, I love the lush colors of summer, and the variety is unmatched.  This family came ready to play.  Colorado threw us some wind and some sun, which both add a cinematic feel to their photos.  And their little guy was such a trooper, up past bedtime and yet playful and smiley!

Golden Hour, Emphasis on the Golden


This was a full sun, golden & sunshiney day.  Which makes for lots of opportunities for playful sun flares. Full sun also reflects beautifully off the grasses, making things feel both lush and golden.

Things to know before you pick South Valley Park for your family photos...


  • It's a dirt path trailhead with a bit of an uphill walk from the parking lot, so if you have accessibility concerns, reach out and we can determine if this is the right location for you!
  • There is a bathroom, but it sometimes runs out of sanitizer, so pack some!
  • It can get a bit dusty in the summer (or during dry seasons), but there are not many trees so it's low on pollen

Here's a motherhood session , a family session, an overcast family session, a big family's fall session all at South Valley Park.  Again, I'm a little obsessed with this location.  I love that it's a little different every time - weather, time of day, and the season, all make each session perfectly unique to each family.
